Members of the Korea Medical Student Association gathered in Seoul on Aug. 23 to protest remote medical treatment and the increasing commercialization of medicine. They also called for increased payments from the National Health Insurance Corporation and improved conditions for work and research. The gathering was in response to a government announcement of considerations for the implementation of remote medical care for military units as well as remote areas and islands that are hard to access, claiming it’s the first step toward the outright commercialization of medical care.
