In September 2014, a captain for Asiana Airlines was suspended from duty and cut one month’s pay for refusing to abide by the airlines guidelines that male employees must be not grow a beard over 3cm in length. In the trial that followed, the Supreme Court of Korea ruled that Asiana Airlines’ was in violation of the captain’s individual rights and had no legal authority for its actions. The court also announced on Sept. 14 that it has rejected Asiana Airlines’ request for appeal.
