On June 12, Seo Ahn-sik, 69, met her daughter Cho Mi-seon, 47, for the first time in over 40 years. In 1973, Seo’s husband put his daughter up for adoption, citing financial reasons. Seo and her husband eventually divorced, and she spent the rest of her life trying to find her daughter. In Mar. 15, 2017, she reported the case to the police. The police discovered that Cho had been adopted by overseas parents. After a long, convoluted search through various Facebook accounts, the police finally got a hold of Cho, who visited Korea and requested a DNA test. The photo shows Seo and Cho embracing each other during their reunion in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province. Seo has another daughter (49) who was likely adopted within Korea, but has yet to find her.
