A study commissioned by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), which surveyed 869 union members, found that most union members chose “working hours” as their top reason for joining a labor union. The other reasons were “trust in the union,” “employment contracts and conditions,” “job security,” and “abuse and harassment.”</p>
