As consumption among South Koreans reduces amid the country’s novel coronavirus outbreak, the country’s movie theaters are also taking a bit hit. According to the Korean Film Council (KFC), 474,979 South Koreans went to the cinema nationwide during this past weekend (Feb. 22-23), as opposed to 1,208,858 during the weekend before that, a reduction of more than 50% in just one week. Box office sales saw a drastic slump after a cluster of coronavirus cases was confirmed in the southeastern city of Daegu on Friday, shooting the country’s number of cases into the hundreds.
