As churches and religious institutions continue to hold on-site services and gatherings, the South Korean government is moving to enforce stricter legal measures and punish institutions that violate them to prevent further spread of the novel coronavirus. The Seoul Metropolitan Government has ordered a church in Seoul’s Seongbuk District to stop all on-site services. The decision by the site was praised by South Korean Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, who insisted on a “strong legal response” to any churches and religious institutions that violate the government’s quarantine and disease prevention measures.
