Kim Yong-hee, 61, a dismissed worker from Samsung Electronics, has spent over 300 days on top of the CCTV camera tower of the main intersection of Gangnam Station in Seoul. The sit-in is to protest his unjust dismissal in 1995. The company fired him for attempting to establish a company union. Kim is calling for an official apology as well as compensation for the time he’s spent without a job. Kim’s supporters and civic groups gathered below the steel tower on Apr. 1, chanting slogans of support and calling for Samsung to take responsibility for it anti-union policies. The demonstrators had marched around 2km from the Seoul Central District Court to Gangnam Station. (Lee Jeong-a, staff photographer)
