South Korea’s health authorities consider factors such as diabetes, obesity, pregnancy, chemotherapy and other treatments that suppress normal immune function, and advanced age (65 and up) when categorizing persons as high-risk individuals. Smoking is now included among such factors. High-risk persons who are infected with COVID-19 are immediately hospitalized, as opposed to being quarantined.</p>
