Following the rise in COVID-19 related to Itaewon nightclubs, major tech companies delay transition to regular office life. Companies like Naver and Kakao were planning on having their employees return to the office on May 11, but have since put such plans on hold. Naver announced to its employees that each person is to work at the office for only two days a week until further notice, as part of its “preparation for normalization.” Kakao will have each of its employees work at the office for only one day a week, adding that “any employees who have recently visited issue areas [clubs in Itaewon] will be required to work from home for at least two weeks.” The decision was based on the discovery that COVID-19 patient had gone to work at a company near the headquarters of both companies.
