South Korea is investing in job programs to help people who have lost their jobs amid the COVID-19 pandemic. On July 13, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) announced that it was investing 1.34 trillion won (US$1.11 billion) into a nationwide jobs program to help the unemployed, low-income people, and those whose businesses have failed as a result of the economic shocks brought on by the pandemic. Jobs will include roles in disease prevention efforts and positions in rural farming and fishing villages. The program will also include job support efforts for young people.
