Small business owners are suffering under the weight of the South Korean government’s Level 2.5 social distancing regimen, which severely restricts economic activity. The government has announced it is reviewing response measures such as rent control and deferring tax payments. The photo shows a normally busy street in Seoul’s Daehangno area on Aug. 31, when the new measures went into effect. Level 2.5 social distancing is scheduled to end on Sept. 6, but may be extended if the number of COVID-19 infections does not subside. (Kim Hye-yun, staff photographer)
