As physicians and medical interns and residents continue their strike amid a resurgence of COVID-19, the Korean Health and Medical Workers' Union (KHMWU) held a press conference on Sept. 3 calling for citizens to partake in the discussion on resolutions for the strike. The KHMWU acknowledged that the current strike is “unjust” as it’s holding patients hostage, and proposed an inclusive discussion body that comprises physician groups, patient groups, and civic groups for resolving the strike and reaching an agreement on the issue of expanding medical schools’ admission quotas.
