On Sept. 15, the city of Paju, Gyeonggi Province, officially opened its Imjingak Peace Gondola, which travels between the Imjingak Resort and Camp Humphreys, a US military base. The city also plans on resuming its “peace tourism” along the DMZ starting Sept. 22. Facilities such as the DMZ’s Third (Infiltration) Tunnel and the Dorasan Observatory have been closed off for the past 11 months following the outbreak of African swine fever (ASF). To minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19, tours to the DMZ will be limited to 20-person groups, with a maximum of 10 tours per day. All tours must be booked in advance.
