Amid a resurgence of COVID-19 cases the Seoul Capital Area (SCA) will be raising its social distancing regime to Level 1.5. The new measures will apply to Seoul and Gyeonggi Province starting Nov. 19 and to Incheon starting Nov. 23, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) determined during a meeting on Nov. 17. During the meeting, Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun said the country is “approaching a crisis” in terms of disease prevention, adding that “the situation in the SCA, where over half of the Korean population resides, is incredibly serious.” The Level 1.5 measures will apply for two weeks, at which point the KDCA will decide whether or not to extend them based on infection data.
