In a spirit of embracing all faiths, the Jogye Order of Buddhism has set up lanterns in front of Jogye Temple to commemorate Christmas. Although the pandemic prevented the customary lighting ceremony, the temple lit the lanterns at 5 pm on Dec. 17 to honor the birth of Jesus.

“We celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, who spread messages of love and peace throughout humanity,” said Wonhaeng, president of the Jogye Order, on this day. “Although the pandemic has forced us to maintain physical distance from our loved ones, we mustn’t let the love for our neighbors in our hearts drift away from us,” he added.
