[News Briefing] Kim Jong-il to consider to accept IAEA inspection

North Korean leader Kim Jong-il reportedly revealed his intention to accept an IAEA nuclear inspection in a meeting with Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo who were visiting the North on Dec. 9.

According to government sources on Wednesday, Kim expressed his willingness to let the IAEA inspectors look at the North’s nuke facilities wheh Dai sent the China’s position that the North should accept IAEA nuclear inspections and try to solve the North’s nuclear issue within the six-party talks.

Meanwhile, US government believes that the North’s nuclear technology is much more advanced than that of Iran’s, said the New York Times.

Lee government to hire 10,000 interns

Government ministries and state-related agencies will increase interns to about 4 percent of their workforce next year in a bid to offer more job opportunities for young job seekers, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance said in a press release on Thursday.

A total of 284 organizations related with the government plan to hire around 10,000 interns next year and recruit at least 20 percent of new workers from people who have internship experience, the ministry added.

 

Creditors say loan documents over Hyundai E&C takeover insufficient  

Creditors of Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co. said Wednesday they saw loan documents submitted by Hyundai Group as insufficient to dispel doubts over its capacity to finance a deal to buy the builder.

Hyundai Group was selected as the prime bidder for a 34.88 percent stake in South Korea's top builder by offering to pay 5.5 trillion won ($4.78 billion).

Meanwhile, the Seoul High Court on Wednesday ordered Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun and five other executives to pay 48 billion won ($41.5 million) in compensation to Hynix Semiconductor for the financial loss caused by her late husband and the company‘' former president Chung Mong-hun.
