The short track skating teams for South and North Korea held a spontaneous joint practice at the Gangneung Ice Arena on Feb. 8 after the North Korean skaters took part in an unplanned training session with their South Korean counterparts. The South Korean team consists of 10 athletes and comes into the Olympics as one of the favorites. The team is led by 2014 world champion Shim Suk-hee, who won three medals at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and two time world champion Choi Min-jeong. North Korea has two skaters who will compete in the Olympics: 25-year-old Choe Un-song in the 500 meters and 16-year-old Jong Kwang-bom in the 1500 meters.
