South Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met in Washington, DC, on Dec. 6 and agreed to maintain the two sides’ close coordination on complete denuclearization and permanent peace for the Korean Peninsula. US State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert released a statement on this day saying that Pompeo and Kang “reaffirmed the ironclad alliance between the United States and the Republic of Korea” and “pledged to maintain close coordination” on the denuclearization of North Korea.
