North Korean leader Kim Jong-un marked the seventh anniversary of the death of his father and predecessor Kim Jong-il, on Dec. 17. The Rodong Sinmun, Korean Central News Agency and Korean Central Television all covered Kim’s visit to the Mansu Hill Grand Monument in Pyongyang, where he paid respects to both his father and grandfather, Kim Il-sung, the founder of the North Korean state. It was the first time Kim’s media appearance in two weeks. Hordes of North Korean citizens also flocked to the monument to lay flowers at the statues of Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il. (Yonhap News)
