As the second North Korea-US summit has been confirmed to take place in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Feb. 27-28, the question of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s reciprocal visit to Seoul (in reciprocation to South Korean President Moon Jae-in’s North Korea visit in September 2018) has once again become subject to speculation. In light of Kim’s potential visit, officials in the Blue House’s National Security Office have been seen wearing jackets engraved with the number, 615104427919. The numbers “615” refer to the June 15 Inter-Korean Joint Declaration under the Kim Dae-jung administration, “104” to the Oct. 14 Joint Declaration under Roh Moo-hyun, “427” to the Apr. 27 Panmunjom Declaration and “919” the Sept. 29 Pyongyang Joint Declaration. A Blue House official said the jackets were made to reflect the government’s hope for a fruitful Seoul visit from Kim Jong-un so that a new number can be added to the inter-Korean “code.”
