Choe Ryong-hae, first vice chairman of North Korea’s State Affairs Commission, called on the US to reverse its “hostile policies” and called on South Korea to take a more proactive role in inter-Korean efforts. Choe made such remarks during the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Oct. 25-26. Choe said that Korean Peninsula affairs are at a “critical crossroads,” adding that Pyongyang needs a regime security guarantee from Washington before it’s willing to resume denuclearization talks.
