On Nov. 13, the South Korean Ministry of National Defense (MND) announced that they would be providing padded winter jackets for soldiers serving along the front line in regions bordering the DMZ in Gyeonggi and Gangwon Provinces. This is the first instance of South Korean soldiers being supplied with padded winter jackets. The MND added that “public trends and tastes” were implemented into the jacket’s design so that soldiers can experience more comfort when in their barracks. Up until now, soldiers had been provided only tactical winter uniforms, but many servicemen complained they were uncomfortable to wear and unsuitable for day-to-day living.
