Workers’ Party of Korea First Deputy Department Director Kim Yo-jong, also sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, has warned South Korea to stop sending anti-communist propaganda leaflets across the border. Leaflets containing critical information of the North Korean regime are tied to balloons that are then shot across the DMZ into North Korea. North Korean defectors shot some 500,000 balloons over the border earlier this week. Kim referred to the balloons as “evil” under the guise of “freedom of expression,” adding that South Korea will face serious consequences if it doesn’t stop the balloons. Kim also threatened a complete withdrawal from the Kaesong Industrial Complex and the joint liaison office.
