The ruling family of the Hanjin Group conglomerate has been using Korean Air flights and employees to smuggle luxury goods worth over 700 million won (US$626, 955) into South Korea for the past 10 years. On Dec. 27, Incheon Main Customs announced that it has dispatched its case against Lee Myeong-hee, wife Hanjin Chairman Cho Yang-ho and director of the Ilwoo Foundation, Cho Hyun-ah, former vice president of Korean Air, and Cho Hyun-min, former senior vice president of Korean Air, for smuggling luxury goods and products into South Korea to the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office. The Cho family is accused of falsifying documents citing Korean Air as a legitimate importer for the smuggled goods.
