In the above photo, family members of laid-off employees of Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction (HHIC) present a performance at the fourth campaign, “Hope Buses for a World without Layoffs and Temporary Work” held at Cheonggye Square in Seoul on Saturday.

In the middle photo, participants of the Hope Bus Campaign march on the street towards HHIC’s headquarters in Namyeong neighborhood, Yongsan District, Seoul, on Sunday, holding a large banner aimed at President Lee Myung-bak that reads, “MB: You Solve the [HHIC] situation!”

In the photo below, participants are hit by water cannons fired by the police.

Police used water cannons to disperse hundreds of participants who took to the streets around HHIC’s headquarters. Demonstrators voluntarily disbanded around 1 p.m. after reading out their statement demanding legal punishment against HHIC Chairman Cho Nam-ho and reinstatement of the laid-off workers. It marked the first time that police used water cannons since the 2008 nationwide candlelight vigil demonstrations against the resumed imports of U.S. beef.

Around 5,000 people including 2,000 from regions outside Seoul, participated in the fourth Hope Bus Campaign lasting two days.
