“We hope again.”
The autumn sky over the Han River in Seoul lit up in dazzling fashion on Saturday evening as the first Seoul International Fireworks Festival in three years kicked off following a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The festival was organized by Hanwha, which explained that the “we hope again” theme for this year’s festival was chosen to send a message of comfort to the pandemic-weary public, as the fireworks expressed the return of dreams and hopes.
In keeping with the aims of this year’s festival, the different teams created firework displays on themes including “A Sky Full of Hope” (Japan), “A New World” (Italy), and “We Hope Again” (Korea).
The Hankyoreh presents a selection of photographs of these displays.
