Labor members of the Minimum Wage Committee hold a press conference on the night of July 15 protesting the committee’s decision to proceed without consulting labor groups. After they left the meeting, the committee decided to raise minimum wage 7.3% for next year to 6,470 won (US$5.70). That is lower than 8.1% for 2016 and far off labor activists’ hope of 10,000 won.
