The city of Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, is planning on building a memorial park to honor Sewol ferry victims in the city’s Hwarang Public Garden. The “life safety park” will feature a memorial and memorial hall, and is expected to be complete by 2022. The park itself will also be reborn as a public rest area and cultural facility. The city is also reviewing plans for a public library and trauma center.
