Mourners commemorating the sixth anniversary of the Sewol ferry tragedy traveled to the waters off the coast of Gwanmae Island, Jindo County, South Jeolla Province. Eighty-four people, including 43 family members of the victims, took a three-hour boat ride from the docks of the Mokpo Coast Guard, arriving in the waters where the tragedy occurred at around 11 am on Apr. 12. A yellow buoy in the water marks the site of the sinking, which took the lives of 304 passengers, the majority of them high school students. The mourners took a moment of silence, lasting around 40 seconds, to honor the victims and offered chrysanthemum flowers to the ocean.
