[%%IMAGE1%%]Commemorative events for the sixth anniversary of the Sewol disaster were held in the waters near Jin Island off the coast of Mokpo, South Jeolla Province, as well as in the city of Mokpo itself. Over 200 people honored the tragedy’s victims at Mokpo New Harbor, where the recovered hull of the Sewol is on display, on Apr. 16. They also called for the continued investigation of the truth behind the sinking and the punishment of those responsible. Over 50 people also took a boat to the waters off the coast of Jin Island, where the ferry sank, to hold their own commemorative ceremony on the same day. (photos provided by Hankyoreh reader)
