The South Korean government and the Taekbae Union (representing delivery workers) have agreed to establish Aug. 14 as an official holiday for workers under courier services. On Aug. 13, Labor Minister Lee Jae-gap made a joint statement with South Korea’s four major courier companies at CJ Logistics Megahub Gonjiam in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province. In addition to establishing Aug. 14 as an official holiday for delivery workers, it called for improving their working conditions by guaranteeing sick leave and break times.
