North Korea denounced South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol’s recent speech before the UN General Assembly, characterizing his warnings about potential weapon transactions between Pyongyang and Moscow as “hysterical remarks.”

The Korean Central News Agency published an article Monday under the title “Hysterical Remarks of Political and Diplomatic Idiot Criticized.”

In it, it said that the “puppet traitor” Yoon had “malignantly slandered the relations between the DPRK and Russia.”

“It was just the height of irony that the puppet with no elementary political knowledge and common sense of the international relations behaved rudely, voluntarily acting as a servile trumpeter and loudspeaker for the US,” it added.

Referring to evidence of discussions on weapon transactions during a recent North Korea-Russia summit, Yoon said in a Sept. 20 keynote speech before the 78th General Assembly in New York that “if the DPRK acquires the information and technology necessary to enhance its WMD capabilities in exchange for supporting Russia with conventional weapons, such a deal between Russia and the DPRK will be a direct provocation threatening the peace and security of not only Ukraine but also the Republic of Korea.”

He also warned, “The Republic of Korea, together with its allies and partners, will not stand idly by.”

In response, North Korea’s article said, “It is quite natural and normal for neighboring countries to keep close relations with each other, and there is no reason to call such practice to account.”

“Such fool dares slander the friendly cooperation among regional countries for independence and peace as a ‘threat,’ zealously acting [as] a shock brigade of the US to form the international confrontation structure,” it continued.
