Thanks to the appearance of its instant noodle products in the Oscar-winning “Parasite,” the South Korean food company Nongshim saw its US sales rise to its highest level ever during the first half of 2020, despite the economic setbacks caused by the COVID-19. On July 13, Nongshim projected its US sales this year to reach US$164 million, a 35% increase compared to the previous year. The most popular product was its Shin Ramyun instant noodles, which recorded sales of US$48 million, a 25% increase from the previous year. Nongshim has increased its presence in key US retailers such as Costco and Walmart.
