Defending champion Samsung Lions edged Hanwha Eagles 3-2 in Game 6 on Sunday, winning the Korean Series title with a 4-1-1 record.

In the best-of-seven Series, Samsung lost Game 2 before being held to a one-all draw in Game 5 on Saturday. Hanwha reached the Series after beating KIA Tigers and Hyundai Unicorns in playoffs.

It is Samsung's third Series title since they were established in 1982. They won their first title in 2002.

Samsung scored their first run when Park Han-i led off with a double, followed by a single by Yang June-hyuck in the top of the first inning. Jin Kap-yong singled to drive in Yang for another run in the same inning.

The Lions scored their third run to make the score 3-0 when Park doubled and came home on a single by Cho Dong-chan in the second inning.

Hanwha cut the deficit to two when Kim Tae-gyun singled, then advanced to third on Lee Bum-ho's double and scored on a grounder in the bottom of sixth. Two innings later, Kim belted a homer to narrow the deficit to one.

Samsung's closer Oh Seung-whan sealed the victory by striking out Hanwha's Jay Davis from the United States with the bases loaded.

Samsung manager Sun Dong-yuhl sent a total of five pitchers to the mound to keep the lead. With the victory, he became the fourth manager to win more than two Series titles.

Despite Samsung's starter Tim Harikkala giving up six hits and four walks during his four innings, he allowed only one run to win the game. The American won two games last season to lift his club to champions title.

Samsung's shortstop Park Jin-man was voted the most valuable player for his watertight fielding, though he went 7-for-25 during the Series.
