After Gwyneth Paltrow said she is using kimchi and other dietary remedies to help her recover from COVID-19, a senior health official in the UK said the Hollywood actress should stop spreading false information.

“We wish [Paltrow] well, but some of the solutions she’s recommending are really not the solutions we’d recommend in the NHS,” said Stephen Powis, national medical director of NHS England, on Feb. 24.

“We need to take long C[OVID] seriously and apply serious science. All influencers who use social media have a duty of responsibility and a duty of care around that.”

In a blog post on Goop, her online store, Paltrow said, “I had COVID-19 early on, and it left me with some long-tail fatigue and brain fog.”

To aid her recovery, Paltrow said she’d adopted a low-carb, high-fat vegetarian diet and was steering clear of sugar and alcohol.

The actress said she is eating sugar-free kimchi and drinking sugar-free kombucha. She also fasts until 11 am and does an infrared sauna as often as possible.

Paltrow wrote that she had “been doing major research and finding some great stuff to support what I’m doing,” suggesting that there is evidence to back up her dietary approach.
