The memorial to a murdered woman that was located outside exit 10 of Gangnam Station in Seoul has been relocated to Citizens Hall at Seoul City Hall.

The city of Seoul announced on May 23 that it has set up a memorial for the woman in Citizens Hall, located on level B1 of the City Hall building, which will open on May 24. The memorial will be open every day from 9 am until 9 pm.

After the weather forecast showed rain for May 24, the administrator of Facebook Page “Gangnam Station Exit 10” and helpers voluntarily removed the memorial post-it notes from the exit on the morning of May 23 out of concern that the memorial would be damaged by the rain. They then attached the post-it-notes to Styrofoam sheets. After being temporarily stored at Seocho District Office, the sheets and post-it notes were moved to Seoul City Hall on Monday afternoon.

Seoul City Government has decided to display the post-it notes that have symbolic importance in Citizens Hall and to move the rest of them to the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family, which is located in Dongjak District. In the future, the foundation plans to create a “memory space” on the first floor where it will permanently store the sticky notes posted on memorials in Daejeon, Daegu, Busan, Jeonju and other sites around the country.

On May 19, Seoul mayor Park Won-soon visited Gangnam Station Exit 10 to pay his respects to the murdered woman. During his visit, he promised to take steps to preserve the memorial.
