The Hyundai Motor Group recorded double-digit market shares last year in the electric vehicle (EV) markets in 10 major European countries, including Germany.

The company was also found to have sold the fourth most EVs among global automaking groups.

According to a report Wednesday by the EV news website CleanTechnica, Hyundai-Kia registered a 10% market share with a total of 96,988 EVs sold in Germany and nine other European countries last year. This ranked it fourth after the Volkswagen Group, Stellantis, and Tesla.

The numbers in question were totals for Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Ireland and Finland.

Chinese companies have also attracted attention with a recent increase in EV exports to European markets. Geely Auto and SAIC Motor placed eighth and ninth on the list with sales of 57,329 vehicles (5.9%) and 26,936 vehicles (2.8%), respectively.

BYD, which has been mentioned as a potential rival for Tesla, registered only a 0.4% share in the European markets.

As late entrants in the EV market, Japanese companies recorded limp sales figures. Toyota was counted as selling just 7,554 vehicles (0.8%), while Mazda sold 3,921 (0.4%) and Honda 1,274 (0.1%).
