It turns out the fingerprint sensor on Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphone can be fooled by a simple screen protector. If a user registers a fingerprint with a simple gel-style screen protector or silicone case applied, the phone will start unlocking itself to unregistered fingerprints. Considering many people use their smartphones for sensitive financial transactions and personal banking, this is a major security flaw. Samsung initially released a statement saying users should only use “officially authorized Samsung accessories,” but has since announced it is working to fix the issue in the form of a software patch.
