The Republic of Korea National Red Cross held a kimchi-making charity event Thursday at one of its wards in Seoul. Volunteers and staff for the organization took part in the event.

Young summer radishes crowding the ward’s front yard were quickly trimmed by the volunteers and soaked in salted water. They were then dumped on cooking boards and mixed with red pepper powder and other seasonings, coming out as kimchi at the end of the process.

The Korean Red Cross plans to deliver 2,645 pounds of young summer radish kimchi and 1,763 pounds of cucumber kimchi made that day to 500 single-parent households, as well as children’s institutions.
