Typhoon Hinnamnor — South Korea’s 11th typhoon of the year and most powerful one yet — hit the country hard on Monday night, leaving ruin in its wake. All across the country, emergency responders braved the gales and rainfall to keep people safe.

Jeju, the first area to be hit by the typhoon, saw major damage across the island starting Monday night. Powerful winds blew rocks onto boats and roads and downed trees and telephone poles.

In order to prevent further damage, firefighters at the scenes took safety measures such as fixing damaged facilities and cleaning up trees and telephone poles that had fallen.

After passing through Jeju, the typhoon made landfall on the southern coast of Korea on Tuesday morning. Here, too, the typhoon’s strong rain and winds wreaked havoc.

Police and firefighters were dispatched to Busan, Changwon, Tongyeong and Geoje to handle the situation after facilities and large signboards were heavily damaged by the storm. Power outages were also reported.
