The scorching summer heat continues to engulf Korea as the day’s high temperature remains above 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) for over a week. The heat index is as high as 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit) in some parts of the country due to the high humidity levels.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) issued heat advisories and warnings on Tuesday in most parts of the country, excluding the mountainous areas in Gangwon and North Gyeongsang provinces.
The KMA said that the intense heat and the unstable atmosphere will lead to showers in the southern parts of the country in the morning and showers in the greater Seoul area, North and South Chungcheong provinces and the inland region of Gangwon Province for the rest of the day.
The KMA added that the intense heat will continue throughout the country for some time and that people should take precautions to stay healthy in the heat.
