[Photo] Korean adoptee appointed to French cabinet

In a cabinet reshuffle, French President Francois Hollande has appointed senator Jean-Vincent Place’, 48, one of his secretaries of state. Following Fleur Pellerin, who recently stepped down as the Minister of Culture, Place’ is the second person of Korean descent to assume a position in the French cabinet. Place’ was born in Seoul in 1968 and adopted from a Korean orphanage by a French family in 1975. In 2011 he was elected to the French senate as a member of the Green Party, becoming the first French senator of Korean descent.
