As South Korea’s diplomatic missions continue to suspend operations amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, over 80,000 South Korean citizens are expected to be unable to vote in the upcoming general elections. Institutions like overseas embassies and consulates in countries all over the world will likely be unable to process votes for overseas citizens in the upcoming Apr. 15 election. An estimated 65 institutions in 40 countries have suspended operations until Apr. 6. This will affect an estimated 85,000 overseas voters, who will likely be excluded from the election.
